About me

Where strategy, creativity and technology meet

My job title says Creative & Technical Strategist. In plain words, I solve communication problems by putting three things together: strategy, creativity and technology. Most projects need all three. Most teams have people who are great at one. I've spent my career standing in the middle, translating.

How I got here

The '90s: multimedia and interactive. I studied graphic design at Utah Valley University, and I was the student who got marked down for using a computer instead of Rubylith. Within a few years, desktop publishing was the industry standard. That lesson stuck. From 1996 to 2002, I worked as a multimedia designer, then a multimedia developer, then lead interactive developer at RAIN, back when "interactive" meant HTML, Flash ActionScript and Director Lingo. After that, I managed multimedia production at LearningOptics.

Since 2004: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've been a Creative & Technical Strategist with the Church since 2004, working on messaging, experience design, platform optimization and, lately, AI-enabled workflows. For about a decade, I was the technical producer for the Tabernacle Choir's digital channels: the website, YouTube, social, Spotify, streaming and email. I've also connected teams and vendors on temple kiosk content, and built AI training for creative teams.

On my own since 2002. christianlambert.com has been my independent consulting home since 2002, for digital and social media work.

Teaching: 2018–2025. For seven and a half years, I was an adjunct professor of social and digital media at LDS Business College, which became Ensign College. I taught the creative process, branding, campaign strategy, mobile, social and web content, and portfolio development. I also wrote syllabi and helped build e-learning courses with instructional designers.

Comics. I've been drawing superheroes since elementary school. In 5th grade, I wrote and drew Star Fire, a comic with one panel per page. (I didn't know it yet, but that's basically a Sideswipe comic.) I've been writing comics since high school, and in 2017 I started Sideswipe Comics, a comics imprint built for your phone. It relaunches on February 7, 2027.

Music, radio and film. I'm a former on-air radio DJ and a voiceover performer. I write songs and score my own projects. I've worked behind the camera on lighting, sound and cinematography, and in 2002 my short film You Can't Just Change...Can You got an honorable mention at the 2nd LDS Film Festival in Provo.

And the stage. I've hosted convention panels at FanX, and I've hosted The Well•Rounded Show on YouTube since 2014.

What ties it together

Story first. I was raised on Simonson, Byrne and Miller, and trained on McKee, Syd Field and Save the Cat!. Whatever the medium, whether it's a choir livestream, a college syllabus or a scored comic on your phone, the question is the same: who's this for, and what do we want them to feel?

AI hasn't changed that question. It's changed how fast I can answer it. I treat AI like a creative partner, not a replacement: I bring the idea, the taste and the final call, and the tools help me explore, draft and build. Not bad for a kid who used to draw superheroes on notebook paper.
